Peacebuilding and reconciliation

Peace building through conflict prevention and transformation requires dialogue between all stakeholders — to identify the root causes of a conflict, reach consensus on appropriate measures to address them, and reconcile opposing groups. Such measures include efforts to curb any ethnic, class, gender and generational prejudices which undermine mutual trust and cohesion. Credible, well-targeted and non-partisan media programmes can generate the trust, goodwill and ideas that people need in order to pre-empt and minimise conflicts.
